ABOUT TAAIS

The Texas Allergy, Asthma and Immunology Society (TAAIS) was formed in Fort Worth, Texas on May 12, 1984, and represents more than 220 board-certified Allergists and Immunologists in Texas. The Society's goals are to promote the highest standards in Allergy and Clinical Immunology through:


1. Improving the care of patients suffering from allergic, asthmatic and immunologic disorders.


2. Promoting patient and physician education on allergic, asthmatic and immunologic disorders.

3. Increasing the awareness among physicians and the general public alike about the subspecialty of allergy and immunology.


    TAAIS PROGRAMS

    MEETINGS

    TAAIS sponsors many programs each year for allergists and immunologists, primary care physicians, primary care residents, nurses, allied health personnel, and the general public.  

    Half-Day Regional Meetings on Allergies & Asthma:  TAAIS sponsors 3-6 of these program per year, geared towards primary care physicians, nurses and physician assistants, providing CME and CNE credit hours.

    Allergy for the Allergist Meeting:  This annual meeting is exclusively for TAAIS members and provides the latest updates in allergic, asthmatic and immunologic diseases from nationally-renowned speakers.

    Annual Primary Care Residents Conference:  This annual meeting aims to provide further education on allergic, asthmatic and immunologic diseases to residents in internal medicine and pediatrics training programs throughout the state of Texas.

    Lectures to School Nurses:  TAAIS gives one-hour lectures to school nurses throughout the state on the topics of Anaphylaxis and Asthma.

    Direct-to-Patient “Lunch & Learn Lectures:  TAAIS gives one-hour lectures on “Allergies & Asthma” during the lunch hour to employees of major corporations in Texas.

    WEBSITE

    The TAAIS website, www.taais.org, provides physician information, public information, a membership directory, physicians listed by city, information on how to join and links to other allergy & immunology resources.

    ASTHMA DISEASE MANAGEMENT

    * TAAIS members serve on the Board of Directors and Committees of the Asthma Coalition of Texas
    * TAAIS works with State Legislators regarding Asthma Issues.

    NEWSLETTER

    The TAAIS Annual Newsletter includes updates on society activities, programs and meetings, coding and reimbursement issues, national issues, public education projects, and professional information of interest to allergists and immunologists statewide.

    ASTHMA CAMPS

    The TAAIS has been a strong supporter of summer asthma camps for children across our state.  Every year, we raise support for scholarships enabling children to attend all eight asthma camps and one HIV camp in Texas.  These camps allow children to learn more about their asthma in a fun and playful environment.
